It’s taken months of planning, intrigue, and international espionage, but we’re finally able to announce our wedding plans.
We’re getting married in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The ceremony is October 29, 2011. The party is October 26 – November 2, 2011.
No joke. We’ve rented out an entire hotel for our guests and will be using it as our base of operations for a week of outrageous fun, starting October 26th and ending whenever the last person gets arrested (or November 2nd, whichever comes first).
Really, we’re thinking of this as a weeklong party with a short ceremony in the middle. Most couples wed in a central location where all their friends and family are, and then zoom off for an extravagant honeymoon in some tropical locale. Since our friends and family are scattered across the stupid planet, we decided to ditch the honeymoon spend the money gathering our friends somewhere exotic, in the hopes that it will be both a festive occasion and a memorable adventure.
The wedding is going to be pretty informal – no bridesmaids or groomsmen… very, very few awkward speeches… just lots of open bars, rooftop hot tubbing, improvised adventures, and fabulous prizes!
Invitations are going out slowly, some digitally and some paperwise. Due to the somewhat intimate style of our wedding (it is, after all, a very small hotel that we’ve rented out) and our good fortune to have many, many excellent friends, we are not able to invite everyone we would like to. However, we will do our best to invite as many people as we can. We hope that you’ll be able to attend.
